Annotation score:5 out of 5

The annotation score provides a heuristic measure of the annotation content of a UniProtKB entry or proteome. -Experimental evidence at protein leveli
This indicates the type of evidence that supports the existence of the protein. Note that the 'protein existence' evidence does not give information on the accuracy or correctness of the sequence(s) displayed.

This section provides any useful information about the protein, mostly biological knowledge.
Functioni

Ubiquitin-like protein which plays an important role in cell cycle control, embryogenesis and neurogenesis. Covalent attachment to its substrates requires prior activation by the E1 complex Uba3-Ula1 and linkage to the E2 enzyme UbcE2M. Attachment of Nedd8 to cullins activates their associated E3 ubiquitin ligase activity, and thus promotes polyubiquitination and proteasomal degradation of cyclins and other regulatory proteins.3 Publications
