Has potent hemolytic activity against ovine erythrocytes at micromolar concentrations. Also exhibits strong antimicrobial activity against the fungi B.cinerea (MIC=0.5 µg/ml) and C.albicans, and moderate activity against the Gram-positive bacterium S.aureus (MIC=25 µg/ml) and the Gram-negative bacterium E.coli. Venom peptide 2-long has substantially lower antimicrobial activity against C.albicans (MIC=100 µg/ml) and bacteria than Orancis-protonectin but has equivalent activity against B.cinerea (MIC=0.5 µg/ml).2 Publications
