Protein

Alpha-conotoxin RegIIA

Gene
N/A
Organism
Conus regius (Crown cone)
Status
Reviewed-Annotation score: -Experimental evidence at protein leveli

Functioni

Alpha-conotoxins act on postsynaptic membranes, they bind to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR) and thus inhibit them. This toxin inhibits alpha-3-beta-2/CHRNA3-CHRNB2 (IC50=33 nM), alpha-3-beta-4/CHRNA3-CHRNB4 (IC50=97 nM), and alpha-7/CHRNA7 (IC50=103 nM) nAChRs. It also shows a very weak inhibition of alpha-9-alpha-10/CHRNA9-CHRNA10 nAChR.1 Publication

Miscellaneous

Does not inhibit muscle (alpha-beta-gamma-delta) and alpha-4-beta-2 nAChRs.1 Publication
