UniProtKB - O32859 (TAP_MYCFO)
Protein
Multidrug efflux pump Tap
Gene
tap
Organism
Mycolicibacterium fortuitum (Mycobacterium fortuitum)
Status
Functioni
Efflux pump that contributes to intrinsic antibiotic resistance (PubMed:9811639, PubMed:16373429).
The pump uses the electrochemical gradient as a source of energy (PubMed:16373429).
Confers low-level resistance to tetracycline and to several aminoglycosides, including streptomycin, gentamicin, 2'-N-ethylnetilmicin and 6'-N-ethylnetilmicin (PubMed:9811639, PubMed:16373429).
2 PublicationsActivity regulationi
Efflux activity is inhibited by carbonyl cyanide m-chlorophenylhydrazone (CCCP) and reserpine, but not by o-vanadate or chlorpromazine (CPZ).1 Publication
