Transaminates branched-chain amino acids and ketoglutarate. Involved in the final step of the methionine regeneration pathway, where ketomethiobutyrate (KMTB) is converted to methionine via a transamination. The amino donor preference is isoleucine, leucine, valine, phenylalanine, and tyrosine.
