Mice are male-infertile and display a fertilization block associated with a failure of sperm-egg interaction and fusion. Spermatozoa undergo normal acrosomal reaction and can penetrate the zona pellucida but they are unable to fuse with the eggs plasma membrane to complete fertilization. Spermatozoa accumulate in the perivitelline space.1 Publication
