Definition
The recycling endosome is a membrane network composed of narrow diameters tubules which concentrate in the vicinity of the microtubule organizing center. Recycling receptors after release of their ligands accumulate in those membranes which are devoid of fluid markers. Recycling endosomes may be an intermediate station for receptors before recycling back to the cell surface.
