Protein which interferes with the function of proton-gated sodium channels (ASICs) which are membrane proteins forming a channel in a biological membrane selectively permeable to sodium ions, and open in response to an increase of extracellular protons. These toxins are found in various venoms from snakes, spiders, sea anemones, and cone snails.
