General annotation (Comments)

Function

Participates in fat metabolism regulation by recruiting FOXO and the TSC1-TSC2 complex to the cell membrane, which positively regulates TOR activity and negatively regulates the expression of FOXO target genes. Involved in R8 photoreceptor subtype specification. During early embryonic development, may be required for ectodermal patterning. Ref.4 Ref.5 Ref.6

Subunit structure

Interacts with TSC1 and FOXO. Ref.6

Subcellular location

Cell membrane; Peripheral membrane protein; Cytoplasmic side. Ref.6

Domain

The PH domain is required for membrane targeting.

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the MELT/VEPH family.

Contains 1 PH domain.

Alternative products

This entry describes 3 isoforms produced by alternative splicing. [Align] [Select]
Isoform A (identifier: Q9VS24-1)

This isoform has been chosen as the 'canonical' sequence. All positional information in this entry refers to it. This is also the sequence that appears in the downloadable versions of the entry.
Isoform B (identifier: Q9VS24-2)

The sequence of this isoform differs from the canonical sequence as follows:
     385-385: K → KPV
     714-719: Missing.
Isoform C (identifier: Q9VS24-3)

The sequence of this isoform differs from the canonical sequence as follows:
     385-385: K → KPV
