General annotation (Comments)

Function

Probable role in the gustatory response. Gr21a and Gr63a together are sufficient for olfactory carbon dioxide-chemosensation. Ref.1

Subcellular location

Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein Potential.

Tissue specificity

Expressed in the adult labellar chemosensory neurons. Carbon dioxide-responsive neurons co-express Gr21a and Gr63a in a pair of chemosensory receptors at both larval and adult life stages. Ref.1 Ref.5

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 7 family.

Sequence caution

The sequence AAF51461.2 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous gene model prediction.

The sequence ABE01237.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation. Translation N-terminally extended.

The sequence ABE01237.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Frameshift at positions 333, 335 and 392.
