General annotation (Comments)

Function

TFIID is a multimeric protein complex that plays a central role in mediating promoter responses to various activators and repressors. Ref.1

Subunit structure

Belongs to the TFIID complex which is composed of TATA binding protein (Tbp) and a number of TBP-associated factors (TAFs). Also a member of the histone acetylase (HAT) complex. Ref.1

Subcellular location

Cytoplasm. Nucleus. Ref.1

Tissue specificity

At embryonic stage 9, highest expression is detected within the ectoderm, ventral chord, and anterior foregut primordium. Later in development preferential expression is in the foregut, proventriculus, and central nervous system. Coexpressed with Taf10b in the lateral epidermis and anal plate. Ref.1

Developmental stage

Expressed both maternally and zygotically. Ref.1

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the TAF10 family.
