Protein

UDP-glucuronosyltransferase 2B23

Gene

UGT2B23

Organism
Macaca fascicularis (Crab-eating macaque) (Cynomolgus monkey)
Status
Reviewed - Annotation score: 3 out of 5- Experimental evidence at protein leveli

Functioni

UDPGTs are of major importance in the conjugation and subsequent elimination of potentially toxic xenobiotics and endogenous compounds. This isozyme has glucuronidating capacity on 6 steroids and the bile acid, hyodeoxycholic acid. May potentially play an important role in estrogen and androgen catabolism in peripheral steroid target tissues.

Catalytic activityi

UDP-glucuronate + acceptor = UDP + acceptor beta-D-glucuronoside.

Kineticsi

  1. KM=0.9 µM for androsterone
  2. KM=13.5 µM for 3-alpha-diol
  3. KM=1.6 µM for estriol
  4. KM=5.7 µM for 4-hydroxyestrone
