General annotation (Comments)

Function

May be involved in the export of heme to the mitochondrion for the biogenesis of c-type cytochromes By similarity.

Subcellular location

Mitochondrion membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein Potential.

Miscellaneous

A stretch of 270 kb of the mitochondrial genome is duplicated within the centromere of chromosome 2 resulting in the duplication of the gene. The expression of the duplicated gene (At2g07783) is not demonstrated. It is also probably not RNA edited and therefore differs in all the positions known to be edited.

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the ccmF/cycK/ccl1/nrfE/ccsA family.

RNA editing

Edited at positions 15, 35, 48, 53, 67, 88, 90, 97, 114, 124, 135, 162, 194, 237, 240, 260, 264, 269 and 319. Ref.5

Sequence caution

The sequence CAA66908.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Its N-terminal part is produced after trans-splicing. No experimental data confirms this assertion.
