Involved in root growth and lateral root development, with a probable role in cell reprogramming (PubMed:25566280). In a heterologous system, TCTP2 mRNA and protein are capable of moving long distance in both directions with a tendency for movment from source to sink tissue (PubMed:25566280, PubMed:26237533). In heterografts, the long-distance transport of TCTP2 is necessary but not sufficient to induce emergence of adventitious aerial roots in close proximity to the graft (PubMed:26237533).2 Publications
