General annotation (Comments)

Function

Senses the quorum-sensing autoinducer CAI-1 ((S)-3-hydroxytridecan-4-one) which probably functions as an intragenus signal. The sensory signal is then relayed to luxU and luxO. Ref.2

Catalytic activity

ATP + protein L-histidine = ADP + protein N-phospho-L-histidine.

Subcellular location

Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein Potential.

Sequence similarities

Contains 1 histidine kinase domain.

Contains 1 response regulatory domain.
