General annotation (Comments)

Function

The JNK-interacting protein (JIP) group of scaffold proteins selectively mediates JNK-signaling by aggregating specific components of the MAPK cascade to form a functional JNK signaling module. May function as a regulator of vesicle transport, through interations with the JNK-signaling components and motor proteins. Syd is required for efficient kinesin-I mediated axonal transport. UniProtKB Q9ESN9 Ref.1

Subunit structure

Forms homo- and heterooligomeric complexes. Binds the TPR motif-containing C-terminal of kinesin light chain, Klc. Pre-assembled syd scaffolding complexes are then transported as a cargo of kinesin, to the required subcellular location.

Subcellular location

Cytoplasm By similarity. UniProtKB Q9ESN9

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the JIP scaffold family.

RNA editing

Edited at position 983.
Partially edited. Target of Adar. Ref.6

Sequence caution

The sequence AAN71473.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous termination at position 795. Translated as Arg.

The sequence AAN71473.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Frameshift at position 1207.

The sequence AAV36895.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Frameshift at position 397.

The sequence AAV36895.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Miscellaneous discrepancy. Intron retention.
