General annotation (Comments)

Function

Catalyzes the 6 alpha hydroxylation oxidation of taurodeoxycholate to produce the pig specific bile acid taurohyocholic acid. Ref.1 Ref.3 Ref.4

Catalytic activity

Taurochenodeoxycholate + NADPH + O2 = taurohyocholate + NADP+ + H2O.

Lithocholate + NADPH + O2 = hyodeoxycholate + NADP+ + H2O.

Cofactor

Heme group By similarity.

Subcellular location

Endoplasmic reticulum membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein Potential.

Tissue specificity

Primarily expressed in liver. Low expression in kidney. Ref.1

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the cytochrome P450 family.
