General annotation (Comments)
| Function | Plus end-directed microtubule-dependent motor protein involved in intracellular transport and regulating various processes such as mannose-6-phosphate receptor (M6PR) transport to the plasma membrane, endosomal sorting during melanosome biogenesis and cytokinesis. During melanosome maturation, required for delivering melanogenic enzymes from recycling endosomes to nascent melanosomes by creating peripheral recycling endosomal subdomains in melanocytes. Also required for the abcission step in cytokinesis: mediates translocation of ZFYVE26, and possibly TTC19, to the midbody during cytokinesis By similarity. Mediates the transport of M6PR-containing vesicles from trans-Golgi network to the plasma membrane via direct interaction with the AP-1 complex. Ref.1 |
| Subunit structure | Interacts with AP1G1 and AP1G2. Interacts with ZFYVE26 By similarity. Interacts with AP2B1. Ref.1 |
| Subcellular location | Golgi apparatus membrane. Cytoplasm › cytoskeleton › centrosome Probable. Midbody By similarity. Endosome membrane By similarity. Note: Recruited to the midbody during cytokinesis By similarity. Ref.1 |
| Developmental stage | At E9.5, expressed essentially in the central nervous system. Widely expressed at E10.5. At E11.5, expressed in the telencephaon, otic vesicles, limb buds, nasal processes and urogenital bud. Ref.3 |
| Sequence similarities | Belongs to the kinesin-like protein family. Contains 1 FHA domain. Contains 1 kinesin-motor domain. |
