General annotation (Comments)
| Function | Broad spectrum multifunctional glucosyltransferase. In addition to hydroquinone it accept at least 45 natural and synthetic phenols as well as two cinnamyl alcohols as substrates. Hydroquinone was however the best substrate. In contrast to this broad acceptor substrate specificity, only pyrimidine nucleotide activated glucose is tolerated as a donor substrate. |
| Catalytic activity | UDP-glucose + hydroquinone = UDP + hydroquinone-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside. |
| Sequence similarities | Belongs to the UDP-glycosyltransferase family. |
