May have a role in monitoring the intrahepatic bile acid concentration. May play a role in myelin formation. Can oxidize both 20-alpha- and 3-alpha-hydroxysteroids. Low activity towards 5-alpha-androstan-17-beta-ol-3-one. Can also act on non-steroidal substrates such as S-indan-1-ol, S-tetralol and 4-chromanol. |
