General annotation (Comments)

Function

UDPGTs are of major importance in the conjugation and subsequent elimination of potentially toxic xenobiotics and endogenous compounds. This isozyme has glucuronidating capacity on testosterone, dihydrotestosterone, 5-alpha-androstane-3-alpha,17-beta-diol, androsterone, oestradiol, tetrahydroaldosterone and tetrahydrocortisone. This enzyme is essential to inactivation of several steroids.

Catalytic activity

UDP-glucuronate + acceptor = UDP + acceptor beta-D-glucuronoside.

Tissue specificity
