General annotation (Comments)

Function

Splicing factor that regulates oogenesis and controls both mitosis and mRNA localization in the germline by regulating mRNA splicing of a subset of genes within the ovary. Probably acts by regulating the alternative splice site selection of the otu transcript. Also regulates the alternative splicing of eIF-4E and grk, while it is not involved in the splicing of par-1, sqd and psq. Ref.2

Subunit structure

Interacts with enc. However, given the cytoplasmic localization of enc, the relevance of such interaction is unclear. Ref.2

Subcellular location

Nucleus. Ref.2

Tissue specificity

Expressed in all germline cells and within the follicle cell. Ref.2

Domain

The third RNA recognition motif, called PUMP domain in Ref.1, is atypical and may rather mediate protein-protein interactions. Ref.1

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the RRM half pint family.

Contains 3 RRM (RNA recognition motif) domains.

Alternative products

This entry describes 2 isoforms produced by alternative splicing. [Align] [Select]
Isoform A (identifier: Q8T6B9-1)

Also known as: Long;

This isoform has been chosen as the 'canonical' sequence. All positional information in this entry refers to it. This is also the sequence that appears in the downloadable versions of the entry.
Isoform B (identifier: Q8T6B9-2)

Also known as: C;

The sequence of this isoform differs from the canonical sequence as follows:
     1-92: Missing.
Note: No experimental confirmation available.
