Expressed in several regions of the brain, including paraventricular hypothalamic nucleus, dorsal medial hypothalamic nucleus, paratenial thalamic nuclei, paracentral thalamic nucleus, lateral habenular nucleus, lateral septal nucleus, lateral globus pallidus and amygdala. Highest expression seen in paraventricular thalamic nuclei and is also extensively expressed in the suprachiasmatic nucleus.
