Provides the precursors necessary for DNA synthesis. Catalyzes the biosynthesis of deoxyribonucleotides from the corresponding ribonucleotides. The N-terminal region confers antiapoptotic activity in differentiated cells such as neurons and is important for viral reactivation to increase neural survivability By similarity.
