General annotation (Comments)

Function

Protein kinase that recognizes the calcium spiking induced by Nod factors and translates this signal to components controlling nodulation and mycorrhizal infection responses. May phosphorylate the NSP1 protein.

Catalytic activity

ATP + a protein = ADP + a phosphoprotein.

Enzyme regulation

Activated by calcium. Autophosphorylation may play an important role in the regulation of the kinase activity By similarity.

Subcellular location

Membrane; Single-pass membrane protein Potential.

Tissue specificity

High expression in roots, low in flowers. Not detected in leaves or stems. Ref.1

Induction

Small up-regulation in nodules. Ref.1

Post-translational modification

Autophosphorylation By similarity.

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. CAMK Ser/Thr protein kinase family. CaMK subfamily.

Contains 3 EF-hand domains.

Contains 1 protein kinase domain.
