General annotation (Comments)

Function

Regulatory subunit of the condensin-2 complex, a complex which establishes mitotic chromosome architecture and is involved in physical rigidity of the chromatid axis. Is required for early embryonic development and is essential for viability and expansion of the inner cell mass (ICM) of the implanting blastocyst. Ref.3

Subunit structure

Component of the condensin-2 complex, which contains the SMC2 and SMC4 heterodimer, and 3 non SMC subunits that probably regulate the complex: NCAPH2, NCAPD3 and NCAPG2.

Nucleus By similarity.

Tissue specificity

Expressed in spleen, lung and testis as well as in hematopoietic cell lines. Ref.3

Developmental stage

Expressed form E7 when yolk sac hematopoiesis is initiated. Between E12.5 and E15.5 restricted to the developing fetal liver and the site of definitive hematopoiesis. Detected in thymus at E15.5 as well as the midbrain, forebrain and the olfactory epithelium. Ref.3
