Functioni

Transcription activator that binds DNA cooperatively with DP proteins through the E2 recognition site, 5'-TTTC[CG]CGC-3' found in the promoter region of a number of genes. Component of the EDM complex, a complex specifically required for multiciliate cell differentiation: the EDM complex binds and activate genes required for centriole biogenesis. Activates genes required for centriole assembly (plk4, cep152) and genes specifically required for motile cilia formation (foxj1). Also promotes the deuterosome pathway of centriole biogenesis by activating expression of deup1, but not its paralog cep63.By similarity1 Publication
