General annotation (Comments)

Function

Transports S-adenosylmethionine. Ref.2

Enzyme regulation

Transport is inhibited by S-adenosylethionine and to a lesser extent by S-adenosylhomocysteine. Unlike eukaryotic transporters is not inhibited by sinfungin. Also inhibited by 2.4-dinitrophenol, suggesting transport is an energy-dependent process. Ref.2

Subcellular location

Cell inner membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein Potential.

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the drug/metabolite transporter (DMT) superfamily. 10 TMS drug/metabolite exporter (DME) (TC 2.A.7.3) family. [View classification]

Contains 2 DUF6 domains.
