General annotation (Comments)

Function

Part of the ABC transporter complex NodIJ involved in the export of the nodulation factors (Nod factors), the bacterial signal molecules that induce symbiosis and subsequent nodulation induction. Nod factors are LCO (lipo-chitin oligosaccharide), a modified beta-1,4-linked N-acetylglucosamine oligosaccharide. This subunit is responsible for energy coupling to the transport system By similarity.

Subunit structure

The complex is composed of two ATP-binding proteins (NodI) and two transmembrane proteins (NodJ) Potential.

Subcellular location

Cell inner membrane; Peripheral membrane protein By similarity.

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the ABC transporter superfamily. Lipooligosaccharide exporter (TC 3.A.1.102) family. [View classification]

Contains 1 ABC transporter domain.

Sequence caution

The sequence AAU47485.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation.
