General annotation (Comments)

Function

Acyltransferase which mediates the conversion of 1-acyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (LPC) into phosphatidylcholine (PC). Required for normal phospholipid content of mitochondrial membranes. Involved in the remodeling of the acyl groups of cardiolipin in the mitochondrial inner membrane, which affects the assembly and stability of respiratory chain complex IV and its supercomplex forms By similarity.

Catalytic activity

Acyl-CoA + 1-acyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine = CoA + 1,2-diacyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine.

Subcellular location

Mitochondrion outer membrane; Single-pass membrane protein; Intermembrane side Potential.

Domain

The HXXXXD motif is essential for acyltransferase activity and may constitute the binding site for the phosphate moiety of the glycerol-3-phosphocholine By similarity.

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the taffazin family.
