General annotation (Comments)

Function

Mannosyltransferase involved in glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchor biosynthesis. Transfers the first alpha-1,4-mannose to GlcN-acyl-PI during GPI precursor assembly. Ref.3

Pathway

Glycolipid biosynthesis; glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchor biosynthesis.

Subcellular location

Endoplasmic reticulum membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein By similarity.

Tissue specificity

Expressed in influorescence meristem. Present at low level in roots, hypocotyls, leaves and stems. Ref.3

Disruption phenotype

Plants display cell walls with decreased crystalline cellulose, increased pectins and irregular and ectopic deposition of pectins, xyloglucans and callose. Ref.3

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the PIGM family.

Sequence caution

The sequence CAC34506.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous gene model prediction.
