Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2 2

Gene

ubc2

Organism
Neosartorya fumigata (strain ATCC MYA-4609 / Af293 / CBS 101355 / FGSC A1100) (Aspergillus fumigatus)
Status
Reviewed-Annotation score: Annotation score: 5 out of 5-Protein inferred from homologyi

Functioni

Catalyzes the covalent attachment of ubiquitin to other proteins. Plays a role in transcription regulation by catalyzing the monoubiquitination of histone H2B to form H2BK123ub1. H2BK123ub1 gives a specific tag for epigenetic transcriptional activation and is also a prerequisite for H3K4me and H3K79me formation. Also involved in postreplication repair of UV-damaged DNA, in N-end rule-dependent protein degradation and in sporulation (By similarity).PROSITE-ProRule annotation

Catalytic activityi

ATP + ubiquitin + protein lysine = AMP + diphosphate + protein N-ubiquityllysine.PROSITE-ProRule annotation

Pathway: protein ubiquitination

This protein is involved in the pathway protein ubiquitination, which is part of Protein modification.PROSITE-ProRule annotation

90%UniRef90 is built by clustering UniRef100 sequences that have at least 90% sequence identity to, and 80% overlap with, the longest sequence (a.k.a seed sequence).
50%UniRef50 is built by clustering UniRef90 seed sequences that have at least 50% sequence identity to, and 80% overlap with, the longest sequence in the cluster.
