Functioni

Produces nitric oxide (NO) which is a messenger molecule with diverse functions throughout the body. The production of NO in the salivary gland is used as a vasodilator for blood sucking.

2 L-arginine + 3 NADPH + 4 O2 = 2 L-citrulline + 2 nitric oxide + 3 NADP+ + 4 H2O.
