Disruption phenotypei

RNAi-mediated knockdown results in defective formation of the distal end of the two M2 pharyngeal motor neurons.1 Publication

Mutagenesis

Feature keyPosition(s)DescriptionActionsGraphical viewLength
Mutagenesisi141N → SINSDKLQVAMLYIISD in mnm-2(et2); Defective formation of the distal end of the two M2 motor neurons with M2 growth cones forming at the correct position but stalling or erring ipsilaterally to produce abnormal trajectories and thick growth cone remnants. mnm-2 expression is gradually lost in both the M2 and M3 motor neurons in contrast to the wild-type where expression is maintained in the M3 neurons. Functional impairment of the M3 neuron with dramatically reduced pharyngeal pumping. 1 Publication1

Expressioni

Tissue specificityi

In larva and adult, expressed in the M3 pharyngeal motor neurons, extrapharyngeal neurons in the head, the PQR tail neurons, rectal cells, vulva cells, the spermetheca-uterine valve, body wall muscle cells and neurons of the ventral nerve cord. In the embryo, expressed in pharyngeal cells, extrapharyngeal head neurons and within the tail. Expressed in body wall muscle cells during late embryonic stages. Expressed in the mother cells of the M2 and M3 pharyngeal motor neurons precursor cells at the embryonic bean stage and subsequently in the M2 and M3 cells as they are born. Expression is sustained only in the two M3 cells up to at least the 5-day-old adult. In contrast, expression gradually declines in the M2 cells beginning from the time of their birth, and is completely undetectable by the time of hatching.1 Publication

Links to similar proteins from the UniProt Reference Clusters (UniRef) at 100%, 90% and 50% sequence identity:
100%UniRef100 combines identical sequences and sub-fragments with 11 or more residues from any organism into one UniRef entry.
90%UniRef90 is built by clustering UniRef100 sequences that have at least 90% sequence identity to, and 80% overlap with, the longest sequence (a.k.a seed sequence).
50%UniRef50 is built by clustering UniRef90 seed sequences that have at least 50% sequence identity to, and 80% overlap with, the longest sequence in the cluster.
