General annotation (Comments)

Function

Plasma membrane t-SNARE that mediates docking of transport vesicles. Necessary for the translocation of SLC2A4 from intracellular vesicles to the plasma membrane. Together with STXB3 and VAMP2, may also play a role in docking/fusion of intracellular GLUT4-containing vesicles with the cell surface in adipocytes By similarity. May also play a role in docking of synaptic vesicles at presynaptic active zones.

Subunit structure

Binds STXBP3 and STXBP6. Binding to STXBP3 excludes binding with SNAP25. Interacts with SNAP23 and SNAP25BP. Detected in a complex with SNAP23 and STXBP4. Found in a complex with VAMP8 and SNAP23 in pancreas By similarity. Interacts with LLGL1, VAMP2, STXBP4 and STX4A By similarity. Interaction with STXBP4 excludes interaction with VAMP2 By similarity. Interacts (via C-terminus) with CENPF By similarity.

Tissue specificity

Expressed in neutrophils and neutrophil-differentiated HL-60 cells. Expression in neutrophils increases with differentiation. Ref.3
