General annotation (Comments)

Function

Necessary for the functional incorporation of the urease nickel metallocenter. HAMAP MF_01384

Subunit structure

UreD, UreF and UreG form a complex that acts as a GTP-hydrolysis-dependent molecular chaperone, activating the urease apoprotein by helping to assemble the nickel containing metallocenter of UreC. The complex may form in the order UreABCD, UreABCDF, UreABCDFG. The UreE protein probably delivers the nickel in a GTPase-dependent fashion.

Subcellular location

Cytoplasm By similarity HAMAP MF_01384.

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the UreD family.
