Protein

Protein SOM1, mitochondrial

Gene

SOM1

Organism
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (strain ATCC 204508 / S288c) (Baker's yeast)
Status
Reviewed-Annotation score: Annotation score: 3 out of 5-Experimental evidence at protein leveli

Functioni

Non-catalytic component of the mitochondrial inner membrane peptidase (IMP) complex. IMP catalyzes the removal of signal peptides required for the targeting of proteins from the mitochondrial matrix, across the inner membrane, into the inter-membrane space. SOM1 facilitates cleavage of a subset of IMP substrates.2 Publications
