Functioni

Sigma factors are initiation factors that promote the attachment of RNA polymerase to specific initiation sites and are then released. This sigma factor is responsible for the expression of the nitrogen fixation genes. This sigma factor is required for the de novo biogenesis of both flagellum and stalk, and for polar morphogenesis and normal cell division. It may not be involved in nitrogen assimilation.
