Tissue specificityi

High levels of the protein are found in the lungs and ovary with intermediate levels of expression in the heart, spleen and brain. Low expression levels are found in the liver, kidney, testis, intestine and blood while no expression is found in muscle, skin, stomach, eyes or nerves.

Developmental stagei

The protein is expressed in oocytes as they develop. After fertilization, the level of expression remains high over the rapid cleavage stages, then decreases during the mid-blastula transition to a low level which is maintained throughout the later developmental stages.
