General annotation (Comments)

Function

Catalyzes transacetylation of the acetyl group from platelet-activating factor (PAF) to lysoplasmalogen and to sphingosine, producing plasmalogen analogs of PAF and N-acetylsphingosine (C2-ceramide) respectively. Also acts as a PAF-acetylhydrolase in the absence of lipid acceptor molecules. Ref.2

Catalytic activity

1-alkyl-2-acetyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine + H2O = 1-alkyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine + acetate.

Subunit structure

Monomer. Ref.2

Subcellular location

Cytoplasm By similarity.

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the serine esterase family. UniProtKB Q99487
