General annotation (Comments)

Function

Strong inhibitor of fluid secretion by the Malpighian tubules. Uses cGMP as a second messenger and inhibits fluid production by decreasing cAMP concentration. Reduces isosmotic fluid secretion by inhibiting electroneutral and non-conductive transport pathways. Reverses the stimulatory effect of diuretic hormone I. Ref.1 Ref.2 Ref.3

Subcellular location

Secreted.

Sequence similarities

To T.molitor cuticular protein LPCP29 C-terminal region.

Mass spectrometry

Molecular mass is 1541.58 Da from positions 1 - 14. Determined by MALDI. Ref.1
