General annotation (Comments)

Function

Part of the ABC transporter complex LsrABCD involved in autoinducer 2 (AI-2) import. Responsible for energy coupling to the transport system Probable. This protein is essential for aerobic growth. Ref.5

Subunit structure

The complex is composed of two ATP-binding proteins (LsrA), two transmembrane proteins (LsrC and LsrD) and a solute-binding protein (LsrB) Probable.

Subcellular location

Cell inner membrane; Peripheral membrane protein Potential.

Induction

In the absence of AI-2, repressed by LsrR. Induced by AI-2, via release of the LsrR repressor. In the absence of glucose, induced by cAMP-CRP by direct binding to the upstream region of the lsr promoter. Ref.5 Ref.6

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the ABC transporter superfamily. AI-2 autoinducer porter (TC 3.A.1.2.8) family. [View classification]

Contains 2 ABC transporter domains.
