General annotation (Comments)

Function

Antitoxin component of a toxin-antitoxin (TA) module. Labile antitoxin that counteracts the effect of the CbtA (YeeV) toxin. It does not seem to bind to the cognate toxin but instead induces loss of the toxin by an unknown mechanism that requires 68 nucleotides of intergenic DNA downstream of the antitoxin gene, in cis, between the yeeU and cbta (yeeV) genes. Ref.4

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the YeeU/YafW/YfjZ antitoxin family.
