Function

Guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) are involved as a modulator or transducer in various transmembrane signaling systems. The beta and gamma chains are required for the GTPase activity, for replacement of GDP by GTP, and for G protein-effector interaction.

Subunit structure

G proteins are composed of 3 units, alpha, beta and gamma. Interacts with ARHGEF18 and RASD2 By similarity. Interacts with ATXN10 By similarity.

Developmental stage

Expressed in meiotically incompetent oocytes. Expression increases in fully grown meiotically competent oocytes. Expression then decreases during metaphase-II arrested eggs, one-cell embryo, two-cell embryo and eight-cell embryo stages, and increases again during blastocyst stage. Ref.6
