Function

Mitochondrial matrix protein involved in the translocation of transit peptide-containing proteins across the mitochondrial inner membrane. Required for the assembly and stability of the TIM23 complex. May enhance the early stages of the TIM23 matrix import pathway to ensure engagement of incoming preproteins with the PAM complex. Ref.6
