General annotation (Comments)

Function

Recognizes the double-stranded sequence RGCY and cleaves after G-2. In the presence of ATP, there is a relaxation of its specificity and it can cleave RGCN and YGCY, but not YGCR.

Catalytic activity

Endonucleolytic cleavage of DNA to give specific double-stranded fragments with terminal 5'-phosphates.

Cofactor

Magnesium.
