Protein

26S proteasome regulatory subunit rpn11

Gene

rpn11

Organism
Schizosaccharomyces pombe (strain 972 / ATCC 24843) (Fission yeast)
Status
Reviewed-Annotation score: Annotation score: 5 out of 5-Experimental evidence at protein leveli

Functioni

Acts as a regulatory subunit of the 26 proteasome which is involved in the ATP-dependent degradation of ubiquitinated proteins.1 Publication
Transcription factor pap1 is controlled by the functional interaction between the positive regulator pad1 and negative regulator crm1. Both these proteins are also essential for cell viability and for the maintenance of chromosome structure. Pad1 is also responsible for resistance to staurosporine, and other drugs such as cycloheximide and caffeine.1 Publication

Interactioni

Subunit structurei

The 26S proteasome is composed of a core protease, known as the 20S proteasome, capped at one or both ends by the 19S regulatory complex (RC). The RC is composed of at least 18 different subunits in two subcomplexes, the base and the lid, which form the portions proximal and distal to the 20S proteolytic core, respectively (By similarity).By similarity

Links to similar proteins from the UniProt Reference Clusters (UniRef) at 100%, 90% and 50% sequence identity:
100%UniRef100 combines identical sequences and sub-fragments with 11 or more residues from any organism into one UniRef entry.
90%UniRef90 is built by clustering UniRef100 sequences that have at least 90% sequence identity to, and 80% overlap with, the longest sequence (a.k.a seed sequence).
50%UniRef50 is built by clustering UniRef90 seed sequences that have at least 50% sequence identity to, and 80% overlap with, the longest sequence in the cluster.
