Ribosome-releasing factor 2, mitochondrial

Gene

MEF2

Organism
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (strain ATCC 204508 / S288c) (Baker's yeast)
Status
Reviewed-Annotation score: Annotation score: 4 out of 5-Experimental evidence at protein leveli

Functioni

Mitochondrial GTPase that mediates the disassembly of ribosomes from messenger RNA at the termination of mitochondrial protein biosynthesis. Not involved in the GTP-dependent ribosomal translocation step during translation elongation (By similarity). Required for respiratory growth and essential for mitochondrial genome maintenance.1 PublicationUniRule annotation
