General annotation (Comments)

Function

RNA-binding protein involved in post-transcriptional regulation. Negatively regulates expression of HO by binding to the 3'-UTR of HO mRNA. Predominantly binds to mRNAs encoding chromatin modifiers and spindle pole body components. Recognizes and binds to 5'-TGTAA[CT]A[AT]TA-3' in the 3'-UTR of target mRNAs. Multicopy suppressor of POP2 mutation. Required for high temperature growth. Ref.7

Subcellular location

Cytoplasm Ref.9.

Miscellaneous

Present with 1240 molecules/cell in log phase SD medium. Ref.8

Sequence similarities

Contains 1 PUM-HD domain.

Contains 8 pumilio repeats.

Sequence caution

The sequence BAA05024.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous gene model prediction.

The sequence BAA05172.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous gene model prediction.

The sequence CAA58660.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous gene model prediction.

The sequence CAA58663.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous gene model prediction.
