General annotation (Comments)

Function

Required for a novel path of interorganelle communication between mitochondria, peroxisomes and the nucleus, thereby maintaining a functional metabolic interaction between the tricarboxylic acid and glyoxylate cycles. Transcription factor that regulates CIT2 gene expression. Binds to two identical sites oriented as inverted repeats 28 bp apart in a regulatory upstream activation sequence element (UASR) in the CIT2 promoter. The core binding site is 5'-GGTCAC-3'.

Subunit structure

Binds DNA as a heterodimer with RTG3.

Subcellular location

Nucleus Probable.

Miscellaneous

Present with 2190 molecules/cell in log phase SD medium.

Sequence similarities

Contains 1 bHLH (basic helix-loop-helix) domain.
